First 5 – Week of February 19, 2024

WHAT’S #YOURKROCSTORY? There are only a couple of weeks left to share #YourKrocStory and win! As of Friday, there were NO employee submissions yet. All you have to do is record a short video about the impact the Kroc Center has had on your life and/or the community and send it to us via email, Facebook or Instagram message. The best videos will win a portion of $2,024 in gift cards! See GrKrocCenter.org/yourkrocstory for details.

SOUP-ER BOWL FOOD DRIVE RESULTS: Congratulations to all our Kroc Krew for collecting 669 food items to be donated to The Salvation Army’s Kent County Food Pantry. The Fitness department donated the most items, followed by Kroc Church in second place.

ALL-STAFF MEETING: The next all-staff meeting will be on Sunday, March 10 at 4:30PM. A light meal will be provided following the meeting. We will be reviewing the updated employee dress code, among other topics. This meeting is considered mandatory, so you need to be excused by your supervisor if you are unable to attend.

NEW PROGRAM SESSION: This Monday starts the new Winter 2 program session. There are some updates to schedules in the Drop-In Recreation Guide, and the new Spring Program Guide will be available soon. Registration for Spring programs will open on Monday, March 4.

SPRING BREAK AHEAD: The planning process is underway for Spring Break, April 1-5. As usual for one of the busiest weeks of the year at the Kroc Center, we will be offering an array of additional activities for families to enjoy. Supervisors should be working on employee schedules as soon as possible; please be sure to provide as much availability as you can, as there may be opportunities to pick up additional hours.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Day Camp Lead; Summer Day Camp Counselor (full-time); Summer Day Camp Counselor (part-time); Building Supervisor; Aquatics Lead; Lifeguard; Youth Ministry and Mission Specialist.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • Numerous staff members responded to a Code 9 situation on the fitness floor Monday morning.
  • Sammie Ryans turned a difficult situation into a green dot Friday when a group showed up thinking they had reserved a private rental of the climbing wall. Even though they had never completed their paperwork or confirmed their date, Sammie helped to run the wall and turn it into a positive experience for all.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Fit Kids 360: Wednesday, 5-8 pm; WPAC, Music Room

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am (currently in the Green Room); if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • For Ben, a friend of Kevin Manning, dealing with the sudden loss of his wife and brother-in-law.
  • For Jon Shaner’s dad, whose MRI revealed the need for surgery on his shoulder.
  • For Lisa Van Dyk’s dad, facing a potential transition in living situations.
  • For new families to feel welcome when they visit Kroc Church.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Sarah Kranz: 2/17
  • Aja Miller: 2/17
  • Aislinn Rosas-Martinez: 2/23
  • Rebecca Sefcovic: 2/24
  • Tyler Stinton: 2/24
