First 5 – Week of February 26, 2024

WHAT’S #YOURKROCSTORY? There are only a few days left to share #YourKrocStory and win! As of Friday, there were NO employee submissions yet. All you have to do is record a short video about the impact the Kroc Center has had on your life and/or the community and send it to us via email, Facebook or Instagram message. The best videos will win a portion of $2,024 in gift cards! See GrKrocCenter.org/yourkrocstory for details.

ALL-STAFF MEETING: The next all-staff meeting will be on Sunday, March 10 at 4:30PM. A light meal will be provided following the meeting. We will be reviewing the updated employee dress code, among other topics. This meeting is considered mandatory, so you need to be excused by your supervisor if you are unable to attend.

CAMP KROC REGISTRATION: Alyson Rodriguez, along with the rest of the program and marketing teams, are racing to get the 2024 Summer Day Camp Guide published as soon as possible – we’re using a new system this year to manage camper forms and paperwork, and the back end of it is still being set up. Our goal is to be able to open registration this Friday, March 1. Stay tuned for more information!

49507 FAMILY WELLNESS FAIR: Our entire community is invited to the Kroc Center on Saturday, March 9 from 12-4 PM for the 49507 Family Wellness Fair, in partnership with Seeds of Promise. This event is designed to connect neighbors with targeted resources to improve their health and address racial and socioeconomic disparities in the Grand Rapids area. We’ll have fitness demo classes, resident conversations, and 20+ vendor tables. Make sure to spread the word!

SPRING BREAK AHEAD: The planning process is underway for Spring Break, April 1-5. As usual for one of the busiest weeks of the year at the Kroc Center, we will be offering an array of additional activities for families to enjoy. Supervisors should be working on employee schedules as soon as possible; please be sure to provide as much availability as you can, as there may be opportunities to pick up additional hours.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Day Camp Lead; Child Watch Attendant; Welcome Desk Attendant; Summer Day Camp Counselor (full-time); Summer Day Camp Counselor (part-time); Building Supervisor; Lifeguard; Youth Ministry and Mission Specialist.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • A huge shoutout went to all staff members that helped manage the Judo Tournament and kept operations running smooth.

  • Sammie ran Men’s Basketball League this past Sunday for its debut, and everything went successfully. It was a great and fun event for the local participants who enjoyed a friendly competition.

  • The pool staff who ran the Lifeguard Training worked really hard and made it a positive experience for all candidates.

  • Sue Hudson from the HR department for DHQ heard from two guests who recently came to our facility. They expressed how clean our building was and how friendly our staff were. Overall, they were very pleased with how we provided a non-threatening and safe environment for everyone.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Fit Kids 360: Wednesday, 5-8 pm; WPAC, Music Room
  • Birthday Party: Saturday, 12-3 pm; Fireside A/B
  • Over the Top Dance Rehearsal: Saturday, 12:30-4 pm; WPAC

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am (currently in the Green Room); if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.
