First 5 – Week of April 29, 2024

EMPLOYEE REFERRAL PROGRAM: Now through the end of June, we are reinstating our employee referral bonus program — current Kroc Krew members can get $200 for referring someone new (assuming they are hired and work a minimum amount in their first 90 days). You must use the ADP portal to make the referral; please see Melissa Roemer if you have any questions.

EXPUNGEMENT FAIR: This Saturday, May 4, the Kroc Center will once again host the “Project Clean Slate” expungement fair from 9am-4pm. This event is organized by the City of Grand Rapids. As happened last year, we anticipate a large volume of phone calls and other questions about registration and other details, as many people mistakenly believe we are in charge of it — please direct these questions to the City at 616-456-4OPA or the Clean Slate website.

GRPS SWIM LESSONS: Thanks to everyone who has been pitching in with GRPS swim lessons in our first couple of weeks – it was a success despite a few curveballs! There will still be a lot of help needed both in the pool and in supervising kids in locker rooms as we continue these lessons through mid-May; please see James Valentine or Jessica Viau if you have any questions.

MAY RENTALS: The upcoming month is extremely busy for rental events, including the GR Symphony, school groups in the pool, and many others. Please make sure you are checking the relevant calendars (Club Automation, Outlook, etc.) and staying aware of outside groups using the Kroc Center and possible changes to schedules and programming as a result.

AYSO VOLUNTEER TRAINING: We’re already looking ahead to the next fall season of our AYSO soccer program.  As the league continues to grow, we are in need of more coaches and (especially) referees. If you have some soccer background and would be willing to volunteer in this capacity, please contact Jon Shaner or Jessica Viau. The next training is scheduled at the Kroc Center on Saturday, July 20.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Fitness Lead (FT), Fitness Attendant, Lifeguard, Youth Ministry and Mission Specialist, Building Supervisor (PT), Welcome Desk Attendant, Child Watch Attendant, Summer Day Camp Counselor (FT), Summer Day Camp Counselor (PT).

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • We have a lot of non-aquatics staff pitching in to match sure the GRPS lessons run well.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Expungement Fair – Setup Friday 3-8pm, Event Saturday all day; Fireside A/B/C
  • Graduation Party – Sunday, 12-3pm, Fireside C

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Green Room; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • Continue praying for Ronda Kaechele’s recovery from surgery, among other Kroc staff who have been ill.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • May 3 – Kevin Chilton
  • May 5 – Clara Schubilske
