First 5 – Week of July 22, 2024

DOUBLE DOG DAYS: Our ongoing summer day pass promotion is called “Double Dog Days” (a reference to the ‘dog days’ of summer… we aren’t allowing dogs in the building!) Guests who purchase a day pass during the month of July will receive a coupon for a free pass of the same type (adult/child) to come back during the month of August. Our goal is to boost day pass sales and building utilization during a typically slower time of year. Please see Lisa Van Dyk or Jon Shaner with any questions.

PROGRAM SESSION BEGINS: This is the first week of the Summer 2 program session. Please be aware of new program participants coming into the building, and familiarize yourself with updated facility schedules. The Fall 1 program guide will be published later this week, with registration opening on Monday, August 5.

BLOOD DRIVE AT THE KROC CENTER: On Wednesday, August 14 from 8:30am-1:00pm, we will be hosting a blood drive at the Kroc Center through a new partnership with Versiti. The goal is 23 donor appointments, with all donors receiving a custom tote bag. Versiti says, “We are still struggling to maintain our blood supply this summer. Currently, Michigan collections are approximately 130 units short of the projected requirement. Despite these challenges, the demand for blood remains critical and ongoing. One donor can save up to three lives!” Use this link to register for a timeslot: https://donate.michigan.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/162031

KROC BLOCK PARTY: Our annual end-of-summer event is less than a month away! On Friday, August 16th from 5:30-8:30pm, we’ll have the giant slip & slide open to the public, plus demo fitness classes, community resource tables, and more. Please make sure to invite all your family and friends!

EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS IN ADP: Did you know? Kroc employees can receive tons of discounts on retail products and services through your ADP account. On the ADP homepage, click the “LifeMart” link in the bottom right, confirm your email address, then proceed to the LifeMart store. There are discounts on travel, computers, tickets for Michigan’s Adventure, Detroit Tigers games, and more! This benefit is provided by ADP and not directly through The Salvation Army. Please see Melissa Roemer with any questions.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Fitness Attendant, Building Supervisor, Lifeguard, Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • Margarita helped jump in and translate with a camp family who does not speak English.
  • The facilities team adjusted schedules to enable Pete Bentancourt to get his Lifeguard Instructor certification.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Lobos Soccer: Saturday & Sunday, Outdoor Fields
  • Volleyball Group Rental: Tuesday, 7-8pm, Sand Volleyball Court

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Green Room; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • God, we pray that you will continue to watch over and sustain our members, staff, and local community. We ask for your healing hand and never-ending love to keep us all safe and protected as we enjoy this beautiful campus you have so richly blessed us with. In Jesus name. Amen.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Lydia Hoekwater – July 20
  • Pete Bentancourt – July 22
  • Donovan Clark – July 23
  • Vicky Canales – July 23
