First 5 – Week of October 21, 2024

FREE WEIGHT EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION: The free weight area will be closed from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday while we receive and install our new, upgraded equipment! We anticipate the area will reopen for members on Friday morning.

MONSTER MASH THIS FRIDAY: Our most popular event of the year is slated for Friday, October 25 from 5-7pm. Monster Mash is when we invite community partners to hand out candy and information to roughly 1,500 guests as they “trunk-or-treat” through the East parking lot. If you know a business or organization who would be interested in participating, it’s not too late! Please send contact information to Jon Shaner.

NEW – LITMOS TRAINING PLATFORM: The Salvation Army Central Territory is in the process of launching a new system for employee training and certifications. You will likely receive an email about this from THQ, which may come to your personal email account. DO NOT DELETE THIS EMAIL! You will need it to access the system in the future. While there are no trainings in Litmos for Kroc Krew members yet, we expect it will be used for required safety and other courses in the future. More information will be provided as the system is put into use.

BLOOD DRIVE NEXT WEEK: After the success of our first blood drive in partnership with Versiti, we will be hosting another one on Tuesday, October 29 from 3:00-7:30pm in the Music Room. You can make appointments at: https://donate.michigan.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/162028. Each person who shows up for their appointment will receive two Kroc day passes for friends or family!

OPEN ENROLLMENT – TIME RUNNING OUT! For benefit-eligible employees, don’t forget that you have until October 31 to make your 2025 benefit elections in ADP. Don’t wait!

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Fitness Attendant, Lifeguard, Personal Trainer, Welcome Desk Lead.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • A member called to share her positive experience with the Kroc Center, and specifically mentioned Aaran Bush as a person who has been very helpful.

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Administration Foyer; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • God we pray that you will continue to watch over and sustain our members, staff, and local community. We ask for your healing hand and never-ending love to keep us all safe and protected as we enjoy this beautiful campus you have so richly blessed us with. In Jesus name. Amen.

NEW! We’re featuring a “Note from the Pastor” and Bible verse in the First Five each week from Captain Jack Huffman and the Kroc Church team. If you ever want to hear more about these topics, join us for Kroc Church Sunday mornings at 10am.

The great Elvis Presley had a hit song, Are You Lonesome Tonight? Great to sing, but no way to live our lives. All of us have had a sense of loneliness in our lives, at one time or another. There are many reasons for feeling like this, but did you know that God never meant for this to be the case? Join us Sunday, as we look at what God says about loneliness and what He can do about it.

Isaiah 41: 8 – 10 NIV

8 “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,
9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
