First 5 – Week of March 17, 2025

SHAMROCK SHAKES!: Happy St. Patrick’s Day! You’ve been asking. You’ve been heard! Get ready for shamrock shakes! In honor of St. Patricks day, EET committee will be bringing around the delicious taste of the Irish pastime. You’re also invited to wear green! (We just ask that you keep it appropriate and always wear your Kroc badge, especially if you choose to wear something besides your Kroc Krew uniform.)

SPRING BREAK POOL ATTENDANTS: We are about a month out from Spring break! Time flies!  As everyone knows, the Kroc Center ramps things up a bit around the building for Spring Break. As a result, aquatics could use some help with our Pool Attendant shifts. Please ask your staff if they would be willing to help. You do not need experience in aquatics to work these shifts. Most shifts are about 2.5 hours long and during the day during the week. This is essentially a customer service position. Staff will be helping with lifejacket fittings, rule enforcement, slide operation, and pool counts. TRAINING IS REQUIRED and will take place April 4 from 1:30–2pm.

If you have staff interested in helping, please let James or Melissa know so they can get them the correct job codes in Sling and ADP. Shifts are up in Sling right now from April 7-11. Any help, even a shift would be greatly appreciated!

SPRING BREAK AVAILABILITY: Spring Break (April 7–11) is quickly approaching! Our drop-in hours will be modified for the week of Spring Break in order to accommodate our community and provide a fun and safe environment for families! If you have not turned in your availability to your supervisor, please do so ASAP.

KROC KREW DRESS CODE: As we continue to see an uptick in visitors, it’s important to remember that the way you present yourself is a representation of the Kroc Center and The Salvation Army. This goes beyond just clothing to include your body language, tone of voice, and much more. Here’s a few highlights from the Dress Code:

  • Name tags are to be worn at all times, except in areas where they may pose a safety risk.
  • In cold weather, Kroc fleece jackets may be worn over your uniform, or long sleeve shirts (plain black or white sleeves) can be worn under your uniform.
  • Any extreme in accessory or fragrance (including body odor, cigarette smoke, etc.)  is not permitted.
  • Clothing should not be overly tight or revealing, and should not display words or logos that may detract from the mission of The Salvation Army.

If you loved the highlights and can’t wait to know the rest, you can find the entire Kroc Krew Dress Code here!

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am in the Administration Foyer; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • Mark Kaechele’s mother, Sharon, for continued recovery.
  • Ronda Kaechele’s mother, Martha Jean, who is having pain in her legs and having a hard time walking.

Each week, we feature a “Note from the Pastor” and Bible verse from Captain Jack Huffman and the Kroc Church team. If you ever want to hear more about these topics, join us for Kroc Church Sunday mornings at 10am.

Special Guest Note From The Pastor – Major Pat Irvin

I believe in the church; in fact, I love the church!  Jesus Christ tells us in His Word that He is the Head of the church.  Every local congregation and its leaders should bow to His Lordship.  The Church in the City of Corinth was founded by Paul in the first century.  After he left the city, he learned of problems that existed in the church.

Since he was physically not in Corinth, he did what any person living in the first century would do – he wrote them a letter.  This letter is in our Bibles as I Corinthians. If you were to write to a church like this, what would you say?  How would you address the problems that were causing chaos and confusion?

In Paul’s first letter to these dear people, he reminds them they are called people, called by Jesus to be His church, not theirs!  If you invited a friend to church, would they see the culture they live in day in and out, or would they see Jesus?

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Monday, March 17th-Wednesday, March 19th: TSA National Supplies Committee Poolside Conference 8am-5pm
  • Friday, March 21st: AAAWM WPAC 8:45am-12:15pm

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Patrick Tucker – 3/19
  • Jerell Miller – 3/19
