Don’t Miss The Moment – 2 Corinthians 5:11-21
After experiencing a heavy loss in the family at the passing of my stepmother (a.k.a. mom) my heart was immediately filled with fear. Not a fear of what would we as a family would do without her in our lives or a fear about how our father would handle this loss, but a fear of realizing that her passing held eternal consequences.
When we all leave this world, we will either enter the Kingdom of Heaven for eternity or pass through the gates of Hell. The fear I experienced for my mom was the fear of not knowing if she would spend eternity free from pain and anguish or be doomed to spend eternity separated from God.
I want to encourage you that we are called as Christians to share the good news of God’s saving grace with the people we know especially those in our families so we can have assurance of their salvation when they pass. Although we cannot save people, we can point them to the cross and pray that they will come into a lifesaving relationship with Christ through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Today make certain you do not miss the moment in the sharing of God’s saving grace listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and make yourself available. Pray for boldness and ask the Holy Spirit for the words to say. Be the light to those around you and trust in God to make the moments available to you and your loved ones so you can rest assured and know that they are truly free indeed when they pass from this Earth and into eternity.
