First 5 – Week of July 7, 2025

STORYTIME IN THE PARK: The Kroc Center will be volunteering at Storytime in the Park on Tuesday, July 15, at Garfield Park! If able, feel free to join us from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM for an evening filled with stories, free books, ice cream, and community fun. This family-friendly event is open to all ages and is a wonderful way to promote literacy and togetherness in our community.

SUMMER 2 PROGRAM REGISTRATION OPEN: Summer 2 program classes are open for registration! Members and guests can register for classes online, through our mobile app, or at the Welcome Desk. Information about Kroc Center programs can be found in printed guides throughout the center, or feel free to encourage people to access the guides online through the QR code or by visiting grkroc.org/info.

EET COMMITTEE – BACKYARD BBQ: Don’t forget that there are two remaining Backyard BBQ events this summer for all Kroc Krew! Remember to mark your calendars for the upcoming BBQ dates on Thursday, July 17 and August 21, and keep an eye out for any updates!

TIME-OFF REMINDERS : As a reminder, all time-off requests should be submitted in ADP in advance or as soon as possible. While staff are communicating with managers about time off requests, some requests are not being submitted in ADP in advance which does not work well with ADP’s system. In circumstances such as sick time which may not have notice in advance, please get those in as soon as possible to ensure ADP is processing these requests properly and before payroll is due.

WE’RE HIRING : Looking for a great way to help someone in your life find meaningful work? The Kroc Center is currently hiring for a variety of positions, and we’d love your help spreading the word! From lifeguards and camp counselors to fitness staff and welcome desk attendants, there are opportunities for people with all kinds of skills and schedules. Encourage your friends, family, or anyone looking for a positive work environment to check out the openings at grkroccenter.org/careers. Let’s grow the Kroc Krew together!

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family!

Feel free to share the following link with anyone you think may be a good fit! https://grkroc.org/jobs

Current openings include:

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • Shout out to the small crew that kept the Kroc running while many were away on vacations.
  • Shout out to day camp staff for continuing to provide a great experience for our camp kids.
  • Shout out to Lily for handling the Marketing responsibilities while Steve was on vacation.

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am in the Administration Foyer; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • Continued prayers for healing and recovery for various Kroc Krew staff.
  • Continued safety and success for the remaining weeks of Camp Kroc.

Each week, we feature a “Note from the Pastor” and Bible verse from Captain Jack Huffman and the Kroc Church team. If you ever want to hear more about these topics, join us for Kroc Church Sunday mornings at 10am.

You’ve Already Got The Recipe! Why Are You Adding Your Own Ingredients? – Philippians 2:1-11

It is natural for humans to want to have and do things their own way. Whether we are talking about the clothes we wear, how we share stories, working with others, coloring a page in a coloring book or even ordering a meal we want it our own way. We want it the way want it and no other way. I think of saying and songs that reinforce this idea.

Frank Sinatra was famous for saying “I did it my way” and even Burger King taunts the message “ Have it your way.” TO have things in life the way we want them is of course not necessarily a bad thing. It helps us to create our own indemnity and allows us to be set apart from the crown and to be unique among the people we surround ourselves with.

I want to encourage you today that God has already made you unique and special in His eyes, in fact in His image. He has given all that you need to be the person He intends you to be. Do not allow yourself to be measured against the world view, instead let God and His Word be the recipe for your life. There is no reason to add any new ingredients to an already perfect recipe. So, pick up the Word today dig into it and taste and see that the Lord is good.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:
