🙌 Missional Moment
From its earliest days, The Salvation Army grounded its mission in the doctrines that shaped its identity.
When William Booth established the movement in the streets of London in 1865, he believed deeply in the biblical truth that all people could be saved through Jesus Christ. The Army’s doctrines affirmed the authority of Scripture, the reality of sin, the saving work of Christ, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. These beliefs led Salvationists to proclaim that salvation was available to anyone, regardless of social status, poverty, or past mistakes.
As the movement grew, these doctrines guided both its preaching and its practical ministry. Salvationists taught that Christ not only saves but also calls believers to holy living through the work of the Holy Spirit. Because of this conviction, Salvation Army ministry combined evangelism with acts of compassion—feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and lifting up those society had forgotten—while always pointing people toward the hope of redemption and new life in Christ.
More than a century later, the same doctrinal foundation continues to guide Salvation Army ministry. The truths first proclaimed by early Salvationists still shape our mission today: that God’s grace is available to all, that lives can be transformed through Christ, and that believers are called to live out their faith through holiness, service, and love for others.
✝️ Note from the Pastor
Your Health Matters
In this week’s message, we were reminded that our lives belong to God and that our bodies are not simply our own possessions, but temples of the Holy Spirit. Scripture teaches that we were “bought at a price” and are called to honor God with our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Because of this, caring for our health is not only a physical matter. It is a spiritual responsibility that touches every part of our lives: what we eat, what we think about, what we watch, and what we allow to shape our hearts and minds.
The world often encourages habits and lifestyles that can lead us away from taking good care of our body, mind, and spirit. Yet as followers of Christ, we are called to live differently. When we remember that the Holy Spirit lives within us, it begins to reshape our decisions and priorities. As Paul reminds us, “whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Our choices, large and small, can become acts of worship when they reflect God’s design for our lives.
This week, take time to reflect on how you care for the life God has entrusted to you. Your health matters because you matter to God. As we follow Christ faithfully, let us make decisions that strengthen our body, renew our mind, and nurture our spirit, trusting the Lord our healer to guide and sustain us in every step of the journey.
