JOB OPENINGS: As we look forward to being able to offer more programs and services in the next few months, we are ramping up hiring for various positions around the Kroc Center. You can always check out the iCIMS web portal to see a list of available jobs throughout the Central Territory of The Salvation Army. Currently available positions include: Fitness Attendant; Group Exercise Instructors; Soccer Instructor; Operations Administrative Assistant; Senior Programming Assistant.
INTERIM KROC CHURCH LEADERS: You may see a couple of new friendly faces around the building for the next few weeks. Majors Keith and Sherrie Welch are here to assist with management of Kroc Church, especially the Sunday morning worship services. The Welches are recently retired Salvation Army officers who have worked around the Central Territory. Be sure to say hello if you see them!
NEXT BACKYARD BBQ: All Kroc Krew members are invited to mark your calendars for another cookout on Thursday, August 12 from 12-1PM. This date has been moved to allow us to use the time to welcome our new Kroc Officers, Major Carol and Lieutenant Jack Huffman.
STORYTIME IN THE PARK: The Kroc Center is working with the Storytime Grand Rapids organization (that has placed the free book box outside our main entrance) to take over the Storytime in the Park event on Tuesday, August 3 at Garfield Park. Volunteers are needed to do things like read to the kids, help with registration, take coupons at the book tables, distribute cups of water, and hand out Kroc Center materials. With hundreds of people typically attending each week, this is a great opportunity for us to re-establish a community presence after COVID cancelled so many events and gatherings over the past 18 months. Please contact Jon Shaner if you are available to help out – family members are welcome too! Volunteers only need to be 12 years old.
REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:
-
SAFETY: Incident reports are a crucial step in making sure we respond appropriately when there is a medical situation, injury, or other issue at the Kroc Center. Missing, delayed, incorrect, or incomplete reports can result in negative customer service outcomes (AKA “red dots”) and possibly legal and financial liability for The Salvation Army.
-
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Key #3 – Efficiency. We strive to be attentive, considerate, and responsive to the needs of our guests.
- CORE VALUE: We value a thriving community. The Kroc Center cultivates a sense of place that bonds people together and makes our whole neighborhood stronger.
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some recent examples:
- Fitness Attendant/Personal Trainer Jake Delosh noticed new members looking lost on the fitness floor and made sure to help orient them to the types and locations of various pieces of equipment.
Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:
