CAMP KROC IS COMING! It’s still (very) cold outside, but the planning process for our Camp Kroc summer day camps is already humming along. Here are some things you should be aware of, as we have already started getting some questions:
- The Summer Day Camp Guide will be published in early February. It will be in a format similar to how we have been printing the Program and Drop-in Rec Guides in order to provide us with flexibility in case COVID policies change.
- Specialty Camps (half-day camps for sports, fine arts, etc.) will be returning this summer, and will have a separate similar-looking guide.
- Registration for all camps will run through Club Automation (like the rest of our programs). Registration will be open by March 1 at the latest (hopefully sooner).
- Positions are already posted for Day Camp Counselors – see ’employment news’ below for a link.
- The Kroc Center will once again be hosting a Summer Camp Fair in partnership with the Grand Rapids Kids website on Saturday, April 23.
$0 REGISTRATION MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION: Our current membership promotion is being extended! We’re waiving the registration fee on all NEW memberships until the end of February! That’s up to a $50 value! And, there’s never a long-term contract at the Kroc, so it’s easier than ever to Get Into It. See the Welcome Desk or GrKrocCenter.org for more details and to sign up.
GIRLS ON THE RUN: Did you know the Kroc Center has a Girls on the Run team? Anyone can join, even non-members. Girls in 3rd–5th grade will make new friends, build their confidence, and celebrate all that makes them unique. Our team will meet on Mondays & Wednesdays from 4:30–6 PM, beginning March 21. At the end of the session, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5K event on May 21. Registration can be found at GOTRWM.org. If you have any questions about the program, please see Kayla Welch.
RETIREMENT PROGRAM: It’s never too early to save for retirement! All employees are eligible to participate in The Salvation Army sponsored 403b retirement program. This is a payroll deduction that lowers your income tax bill and accumulates dollars tax-free for retirement. If you have questions or would like to learn more, please see Brent Wilcoxson.
REMINDERS OF THE WEEK: Here are some of the topics you can expect to be covered at daily morning and afternoon huddle meetings…
-
- CUSTOMER SERVICE FOCUS: Back to basics – The Four Keys
- EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS: Bomb Threats
- CORE VALUE: We value authentic relationships. The Kroc Center pursues personal connections that promote holistic wellness in an environment of security and significance.
W2 FORMS: W-2 forms for the 2021 tax year are now available in your ADP account and in the process of being mailed out. To find them in ADP, click the “Pay” tile, then scroll down to “Tax Statements.” Please see Kristin Hoin with any questions.
NEW INTERNS: The Fitness Department recently welcomed three new interns from GVSU! Amber, Bri, and Lana will be interning here until the end of April. Be sure to stop by the fitness desk and say hi!
NEW TO THE KREW: Be sure to welcome our new and returning colleagues… Aniessa Terpstra, Lifeguard (rehire); Nancy Morales, Fine Arts Instructor
OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Lifeguard; Welcome Desk Lead; Group Exercise Instructor; Day Camp Counselor; General Manager; Soccer Instructor.
LIFEGUARD TRAINING: In light of our current lifeguard needs, and in recognition of the roughly 40 hours of training required for new hires, we are instituting a new program, effective immediately. In addition to covering the cost of lifeguard training, new lifeguards will be reimbursed for their training time. A one-time reimbursement of $400 will be provided after 90 days of employment. Please refer anyone who may be interested to Jessica Viau.
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples observed this week:
- We recently received a prayer request from a member who was having surgery last week. The member’s spouse reported that the surgery went well and the member has been back to the Kroc to work out! Victoria mentioned they were very thankful that we all prayed for them.
- Leslie stepped in to teach an aquatics class and received great feedback from the participants. They loved her take charge attitude and appreciated how prepared she was to teach the class.
- A comment from member Paul Van Beek, as he was the last to leave the building Thursday, “I really appreciate you guys. This is really a top-notch place.”
Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:
- U-PREP program: Tuesday & Thursday mornings, 8:30-10:30am, Fireside & Gymnasium
- Restoring Health: Tuesday & Thursday, 8:00am-1:00pm, WPAC & Music Room
Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:
- Ruthie Diaz – 2/4
- Crystal Truong – 2/14
