First 5 – Week of March 19, 2018

Spring break is coming! The Kroc Center’s busiest week of the year means that we need extra help across the board. If you are available to pick up extra hours in your department, or interested in possibly helping out in another area during that week, please be sure to speak with your supervisor as soon as possible.

AYSO Volunteer Opportunities: We have a record number of kids signed up for our spring AYSO season that runs from April 19-June 2. We can always use volunteers — if you have any interest in helping as a coach, assistant, referee, or in any other way, please contact Bram Roberts, Katie Deatherage, or Jon Shaner.

Kroc Krew text messaging: We are working to develop a new system to communicate important information to employees via text message. Please make sure that your supervisor has your correct mobile phone number on file, and watch for more information coming soon.

Meetup Monday: There are only a couple more weeks to take advantage of our great $3 dinners on Meetup Monday! March 26 will be the last night of fellowship and Bible study for this session. Meetup Monday will return in September.

The new fundraising initiative for The Salvation Army World Missions is up and running at the Welcome Desk. Employees, members, and guests will have the opportunity to put their name on a paper “globe” for $5. When you see names you recognize, please make the donors feel special by thanking them for their contribution.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • “One of the yoga instructors called in sick about 30 minutes before their class. Thank goodness for Cheryl being willing to step in to make sure that class ran as scheduled!”
  • “A lifeguard and pool attendant each became ill during their shift. Thanks to Patrice Franks knowing her pool team, they were able to adapt without closing any features during open swim.”
  • “Kudos to Wynter, who opened the climbing wall until the attendant arrived which was 25 minutes later.  To accommodate the little ones, the game room put a table in front of child watch with coloring pages and crayons so the game room would not get to capacity.”
  • “Alycia had groups of students at the Welcome Desk all morning requesting to get change for the vending machine which is something we don’t do (give change without a transaction). She suggested they purchase a cookie to get the change they need and ended up selling all 37 cookies by the end of their visit! She was patient, cheerful, and attentive to each student during each transaction.”
