First 5 – SPRING BREAK EDITION!

Spring Break Reminders: Here are some important things to keep in mind for our Kroc Krew during Spring Break…

  1. Data show that for more than half the guests who visit the Kroc during Spring Break, it is the only time they come all year long. Expect that you will need to explain processes and guidelines much more than usual, and please do so with grace and patience!
  2. Lunch will be served between 11:45-12:15 for staff members who are working the full day. There will also be snacks available in the admin office conference room.
  3. Please make sure you are wearing your Kroc Center uniform or some other approved Kroc apparel, and wearing your name badge at all times.
  4. It takes a full team effort to keep the Kroc looking great with so many people using the building. Please pick up trash whenever you see it, and help by checking restroom areas frequently (new checklists are being placed in all restrooms, not just the locker rooms).
  5. Thank you for all the hours and effort you will put in this week! Our guests appreciate it!

Kroc Member Appreciation Day: This is a reminder that Sunday, April 7 is a “Member Appreciation Day” — ONLY Kroc members (including those with the Family Pool & Play Pass) will be allowed to use the building that day. No day passes will be sold. Members will receive an email promoting this event.

From Fine Arts Supervisor Alyson Rodriguez: “We are looking for trash… specifically your leftover egg cartons and toilet paper rolls. If you are an avid collector of these items please consider donating to the art room. In preparation for Spring Break, next week would be a great time to drop them at my desk but we will continue to collect after break.

Also, a few requests regarding use of supplies and clean up…

First of all: Since we are getting into a busy season and more art programming, please make sure if you or any of your staff are in need of art supplies that you reach out to me first to make sure we have the supplies available. We are happy to share when we can and we want to spread the creative love. However, many times we may be planning to use the supplies for a specific project, so if you use them without our knowledge we may be unprepared when the class begins.

Second: If you are using the art room or art supplies for another program, please make sure you return the space and materials to the way it was when you arrived. Let me know if you have questions on cleaning supplies if you are unsure.

Finally: We are almost finished with the Mural! I only have a few hard to reach squares to finish, so if you are interested in painting during lunch or a break let me know and I will set you up!”

Pickleball T-Shirts: Have you seen the Kroc Pickleball t-shirts that are for sale at the Welcome Desk? They are moisture-wicking-style shirts and cost only $15. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will benefit the Camp Kroc scholarship fund.

AYSO Coaches: We have 12 teams of soccer kids getting ready for the spring season! If you are interested in volunteering as a coach (whether as a head coach or assistant), please contact Katie Deatherage. The time commitment is no more than 2-3 hours per week from April 18 through June 1.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from the past week:

  • “JaNae in Child Watch did an awesome job calming an upset child!”
  • “Charles was amazing to stop and have a serious talk with the men in the gym about language and behavior. It was great to see all of them stop and listen.”
