First 5 – Week of March 25, 2019

Kroc Member Appreciation Day: We know that Spring Break is an extremely busy time, and that the majority of people coming in to enjoy the Kroc Center are day pass users. Occasionally, our members can feel like their access to the Kroc is limited during that week. In order to address this, we are making Sunday, April 7 a “Member Appreciation Day” — ONLY Kroc members (including those with the Family Pool & Play Pass) will be allowed to use the building that day. No day passes will be sold. We will be communicating this in a number of ways in the next few days — please help us make sure members are aware of this opportunity.

From Fine Arts Supervisor Alyson Rodriguez: “We are looking for trash… specifically your leftover egg cartons and toilet paper rolls. If you are an avid collector of these items please consider donating to the art room. In preparation for Spring Break, next week would be a great time to drop them at my desk but we will continue to collect after break.

Also, a few requests regarding use of supplies and clean up…

First of all: Since we are getting into a busy season and more art programming, please make sure if you or any of your staff are in need of art supplies that you reach out to me first to make sure we have the supplies available. We are happy to share when we can and we want to spread the creative love. However, many times we may be planning to use the supplies for a specific project, so if you use them without our knowledge we may be unprepared when the class begins.

Second: If you are using the art room or art supplies for another program, please make sure you return the space and materials to the way it was when you arrived. Let me know if you have questions on cleaning supplies if you are unsure.

Finally: We are almost finished with the Mural! I only have a few hard to reach squares to finish, so if you are interested in painting during lunch or a break let me know and I will set you up!”

Pickleball T-Shirts: Have you seen the Kroc Pickleball t-shirts that are for sale at the Welcome Desk? They are moisture-wicking-style shirts and cost only $15. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will benefit the Camp Kroc scholarship fund.

Additional Spring Break Opportunities: If you or someone you know may be interested in volunteering during Spring Break, there are opportunities in the following areas:

Climbing Wall Support
Art Room Support
WPAC/Bounce House Additional Support

Please contact Bram Roberts for more information.

Church at the Kroc: You only have one more week to take advantage of Meetup Mondays! March 25 will be the last dinner for the season. Meetup Monday will then return in the fall. Also, you are invited to take part in the Lenten sermon series, “Jesus the King,” Sunday mornings at 10am. Easter morning (April 21) will feature a SONrise service at 8am, breakfast at 8:30am, an Easter egg hunt at 9am, and the regular worship at 10am.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from the past week:

  • The rock wall was super busy during the GR Kids Summer Camps Fair… thanks to Davon and Josh for being on their ‘A’ game!
  • Thank you to the Facilities department, you all rolled with the punches and did a lot of room flipping over the last week with so many special events happening at the Kroc!
  • “Guest was suffering from heat exhaustion in the hot tub. Patrice Frank and her Aquatics team were able to hoist guest out to safety in a timely manner. Guest commented that they were truly life savers. Guest was very thankful and left with a genuine smile.”
  • “Katelyn Liesher stepped in to run the rock wall Friday night so that an event could continue enjoying it after it was supposed to close. The kids loved it!!!”
