UPCOMING HOLIDAY HOURS: Please make note of upcoming schedule changes over the Christmas and New Year’s weeks — the entire Kroc Center will be closed on Friday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) and Saturday, December 25 (Christmas Day). We will be open 6AM-3PM on Friday, December 31 (early closing for New Year’s Eve) and closed on Saturday, January 1 (New Year’s Day). Please see the Drop-In Recreation Guide for details, as there are some holiday-related changes to the fitness and pool schedules.
HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES: On Monday, December 20, we will close the building early at 6 PM in order to hold a Kroc Krew Christmas party. There will be food provided, along with a photo booth, games, and gifts. Please RSVP as soon as possible using this link: https://bit.ly/3dr1sYn
BRAM FAREWELL: Join us on Wednesday, December 15 as we have a farewell gathering for our beloved general manager, Bram Roberts. There will be open house-style food available from 3-5pm, along with a special presentation at 4pm featuring some fun games to honor the Grand Rapids Kroc Center’s first employee!
COVID-19 VACCINATIONS: You may have heard about a national mandate for employers to require COVID vaccinations and/or regular testing for employees. While court proceedings currently have that policy on hold, The Salvation Army is preparing in the event this requirement moves forward. All Kroc Krew members who are fully vaccinated should provide a copy of their COVID vaccine card to Kristin Hoin at your earliest convenience — either a paper copy or a securely-emailed image is fine. Again, we do not yet know the details of how any mandate will be implemented; this is only a step to make sure we have the necessary information for our employees. [Note: For those who shared their vaccination cards earlier this year, we were not allowed to keep copies of that information at the time, so you will need to provide it again.]

LIFEGUARD TRAINING: In light of our current lifeguard needs, and in recognition of the roughly 40 hours of training required for new hires, we are instituting a new program, effective immediately. In addition to covering the cost of lifeguard training, new lifeguards will be reimbursed for their training time. A one-time reimbursement of $400 will be provided after 90 days of employment. The next lifeguard training is scheduled this weekend, December 17-19, so please refer anyone who may be interested to Jessica Viau.

- The fitness team’s Christmas decorations (and all the others) are getting great reviews from members. Jake the Joyful Elf gets special compliments for adorning the big tree next to the fitness desk.
- Speaking of Jake DeLosh, he also received kudos for going above and beyond in accommodating a personal training client with special needs.
- Members who use Child Watch are glad to see Lily Mattson filling in at the Welcome Desk.
- Class participants really enjoyed Kristy Rencher’s spontaneous “glow party” last week — check out the photos on the Kroc Facebook page!
