First 5 – Week of January 17, 2022

SALVATION ARMY CENTRAL TERRITORY NEW COVID POLICY – UPDATE:  The following was sent from our Territorial Headquarters on Friday…

“Last week we introduced a COVID Vaccine and Testing Policy based on OSHA’s Emergency Temporary Standards that became effective January 10. Today the Supreme Court ruled to stay (postpone) the effective date of these standards. In light of the Supreme Court’s stance in this decision, TSA leadership is meeting to determine whether we will continue to have a territorial policy on this matter. You should receive a decision on this next week.

In the meantime, we will no longer enforce our current COVID Vaccine and Testing policy. However, we still encourage everyone to complete the vaccine status survey, as this is a helpful tool when determining the need to quarantine and/or test for those who have been exposed to COVID.

Also, everyone must continue to comply with any state and local requirements regarding face coverings, testing and/or vaccinations.

Any questions should be directed to your Command HR Department or local leadership.”

CLIMBING WALL: Great news! The holds are returning to the climbing wall. We won’t be opening the wall for members just yet, but this will help make the building feel more inviting, especially as we give tours to potential members. Kids will, however, be able to use the bouldering wall once the mats are in place.

$0 REGISTRATION MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION: Do you know someone looking to start their wellness journey in 2022? We’re helping to make things simple by waiving the registration fee on all NEW memberships for a limited time. That’s up to a $50 value! And, there’s never a long-term contract at the Kroc, so it’s easier than ever to Get Into It. See the Welcome Desk or GrKrocCenter.org for more details and to sign up.

RESTORING HEALTH: What happens when Fitbits and Friends work together? Improving health and wellness through behavior is not easy at any age. It is even more difficult as we age. Beginning this February, the Kroc Center is reaching out into the community to help older adults improve their health and wellness by empowering them with a Fitbit and a small group of encouraging friends. The Restoring Health program is a partnership with The Hispanic Center and the Grand Rapids African American Health Institute to enroll up to 30 older adults in this innovative 14-week program. If you have any questions about the program, please see Chris Reinsma.
