KROC KREW UPDATES: Major Carol recently announced a number of staffing changes that have been in the works for some time and have now been approved by our Divisional Headquarters. Please see Major Carol’s email for more details or speak with Melissa Roemer if you have any questions. Two of the most important changes:
• The position of Program Director that existed prior to COVID is returning; this role will be filled by Jessica Viau. Jessica has served the Kroc for seven years as our Aquatics Manager and is currently adding to her experience through the national Kroc Leadership Certification program. Jessica will assume supervision of all program departments and their respective managers/supervisors/coordinators.
• In light of Jessica’s promotion, the position of Aquatics Manager will be taken over by Nicole Wheelock. Nicole has been a Pool Supervisor and Aquatics Instructor at the Kroc Center for nearly six years. Nicole will manage the day-to-day responsibilities of staffing the aquatics center and the vast array of swim lessons and other programming we offer at the Kroc.

UPCOMING EAT EVENTS: Valentine’s Day Hot Chocolate Bar will be available on Tuesday in the membership office from at 10am–7pm. Chili/Soup Cookoff will take place on Thursday, February 23 at 12pm in Fireside. Please bring your favorite chili or soup to share. The winner will get the traveling trophy to display for the next year.
JUDO TOURNAMENT: On Saturday, February 18, our friends from Godai Judo will be hosting a Judo tournament in the gym. The gym will be closed on Friday, February 17 from 6–8pm as they setup for the event. The gym will also be closed all day on Saturday for the event. This event falls during a make up week for programs, so parking should not be an issue.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH: Kevin Chilton, our Child Watch Lead is setting up a resource table in the lobby on Mondays and Wednesdays this month to celebrate Black History Month. Kevin has researched materials and books for all ages so we can continue to educate ourselves, families, and the community about Black history and how equity and social justice can take place. Be sure to stop by his table every Monday and Wednesday this month!

- Nate Schragg and the Facilities team were very helpful in replacing grates in the deep end of the aquatics center.
- Kevin Chilton has been excellent at communicating with Child Watch parents during times the service has been at capacity during the recent busy times.
- There was a fantastic response to a recent social media post introducing Sammie Ryans to the community – several people commented on interactions their families have had with him in the basketball program and at the climbing wall.
- The whole Kroc Krew team last Friday evening was terrific in dealing with a pool contamination to prevent families from having ‘red dot’ experiences.
- Jim Zoetewey helped to troubleshoot problems with projectors and microphones in the Fireside Hall to better serve the Girls on the Run rental group.
