First 5 – Week of April 8, 2024

SPRING PROGRAMMING: With Spring Break now behind us, this week is the makeup week of the Winter 2 program session. We are still on the same drop-in schedule that was in effect during the month of March; the new schedule will be published this week and start next Sunday the 14th. This Wednesday is the registration deadline for Spring roster programs, which start next week as well.

SOCCER SEASON BEGINS: This week kicks off the spring season for both our internal AYSO youth soccer program and our rental partners, the Lobos soccer club. As a result, there will be a lot more activity on our outdoor campus. It is the responsibility of ALL of us to help make sure that our campus is clean and safe — if you see trash, pick it up; and if you witness inappropriate activity (smoking, off-leash dogs, etc.), please make sure to contact someone who can address the situation.

GRPS SWIM LESSONS: Starting next week (April 15), there will be two classes of second-graders from GRPS elementary schools in the building each afternoon for swim lessons. This means that the pool will close for lap swim/river walking at 12pm instead of 1pm daily. There will be a lot of help needed both in the pool and in supervising kids in locker rooms; please see James Valentine or Jessica Viau if you have any questions.

EMPLOYEE REFERRAL PROGRAM: Now through the end of June, we are reinstating our employee referral bonus program — current Kroc Krew members can get $200 for referring someone new (assuming they are hired and work a minimum amount in their first 90 days). You must use the ADP portal to make the referral; please see Melissa Roemer if you have any questions.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN FIRST 5: To follow the talking aardvark into the Cave of Secrets, turn to page 47. Or, blow the green whistle and see what it summons by turning to page 33.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Fitness Lead (FT), Fitness Attendant, Lifeguard, Youth Ministry and Mission Specialist, Building Supervisor (PT), Welcome Desk Attendant, Child Watch Attendant, Summer Day Camp Counselor (FT), Summer Day Camp Counselor (PT).

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • Thanks to everyone who went out of their way to fill gaps in different departments around the building to make sure we had adequate coverage during Spring Break.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Memorial Service: Saturday, 12-4pm, Fireside Hall

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Green Room; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • None submitted this week

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Albert Montiel – April 3
  • Rachel Olexa – April 10
